Full Itinerary
Day 1: Trekking tour Kalaw - Wah Gyi Myaung
Your trekking guide pick you up right in the morning time from your hotel in Kalaw. You drive to
Nyaung Pin Tar village, where the trekking tour starts. Pass by small tribal villages along the track until you arrive at the pottery village
Kan Pa Ni for lunch, which is cooked and prepared by the trekking team. Afterwards, hike in a south east direction, passing through Pa O and Danu tribal villages. In
Wah Gyi Myaung, a Pa O village atop at the mountain range, you have dinner and stay overnight in a monastery.
About two thirds of the way comprise flat valleys, afterwards you trek through narrow steep walking paths. Elevation ranges from 1.110 m to 1.600 m. The duration of the trekking stages is as follows:
Nyaung Pin Thar - Taw Ya: | 1 hour |

Day 2: Trekking tour Wah Gyi Myaung - Khaung Daing
After a simple breakfast at the monastery in
Wah Gyi Myaung, you continue your trekking tour in eastern direction. The walking paths are mainly on high mountain terraces dotted with farms and plantations. Arriving at the base of the mountain range at
Khaung Daing village, you can enjoy the farewell lunch at a local restaurant. Afterwards you take the boat to head back to your hotel in Inle.
The elevation varies as there are many ascents and descents along the track. As the path descends towards the end, it is only a gradual downhill walk afterwards. The duration of the trekking stages is as follows:
Wah Gyi Myaung - Kyaut Nge: | 1 hour 30 min |
Kyaut Nge - Khaung Daing: | 2 hours 30 min |
Please note, that monastery accomodation is arranged as dormitories with mats, pillows and thin blankets provided. Couples are not allowed to stay together, as the sleeping areas are separated by gender. Washing facilities are located outside. Further, most monasteries only have traditional toilets and hot water is not available. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a torch light, a towel and a warm jacket with you, as it might get cool at night.
