Day 1 - Tamu - Kalay

Welcome to Myanmar! A Golden Express Tours’ representative and the liaison officers will welcome you after crossing the border in Tamu. Today you drive through to Kalay.

Day 2 - Kalay - Mandalay

After breakfast at your hotel, we will drive to Mandalay - the second largest city and last royal capital of Myanmar. Upon arrival, the day is at your leisure.

Day 3 - Mandalay: Excursion Amarapura, Innwa & Sagaing

You get picked up at your hotel in Mandalay to drive to Amarapura. There you visit Mahagandayon, a well-known Buddhist Monastery, where over thousands of monks live and study. One of Myanmar's most popular spots to take photos at is the U-Bein Bridge, the longest wooden teak bridge in the world. After lunch at a local restaurant, you visit the former Royal Capital of Innwa. Join a ride on a horse cart and visit the Nanmyint Watch Tower and Maha Aung Mye Bonzan Monastery. Further, you see lots of unique and artful wood carvings when visiting the Bagaya Monastery. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere at Sagaing Hill, offering you the most beautiful sunset by the Irrawaddy River. After your excursion, you get dropped off at your hotel in Mandalay.

Day 4 - Mandalay - Nyaung Shwe, Nyaung Shwe: Boat Trip Inle Lake

After breakfast, we drive from Mandalay to Nyaung Shwe. After check in at your hotel, you join a comfortable boat trip on the beautiful Inle Lake, known for its leg rowers, floating villages and gardens. Today you will gain insight into the everyday life of the Intha, who mostly live in wooden houses built on tall stilts, and learn about their methods of fishing and gardening. You visit the silk weaving village Inpawkhon where artisans produce one of the most expensive and rarest textiles in the world: silk made from lotus flowers. Further visits to cheerot making and silversmith factories are also included on this tour.

Day 5 - Nyaung Shwe: Excursion Kakku & Taunggyi

In the early morning, we drive to Taunggyi. Taunggyi is the capital and the largest city of Shan State. The city is also known for a large number of traditional ethnic tribes, including the Intha and the Pa-O people. Furthermore, here you have the possibility of trying the best traditional Shan noodles in Myanmar.
Then you take the boat to Kakku. Located in the heart of Shan state, you find over 2000 stupas at the Kakku Pagoda Complex, which were mostly built in the 16th century. Your guide provides information about the history and legends of the Kakku Pagodas. Afterwards, you head to Htan Phaya, a village where you can explore a cave, hiding numerous images of different sized Shan Buddhas.

Day 6 - Taunggyi - Naypyidaw - Bago

After breakfast at your hotel, we drive to Myanmar's capital city Naypyidaw. You visit the Uppasanti Pagoda, which houses a Buddha tooth relic from China. Furthermore, the Pagoda is an almost replica of the famous Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon. After passing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (Parliament) and the spectacular 20-lane highway, we head to Bago.

Day 7 - Bago - Kyaiktiyo (Golden Rock)

Today you visit the former capital Bago, housing historical sights. The Kanbawzathadi Palace gives a lot of information about the rich history of the Mon-State. See one of the most beautiful reclining Buddha statues in Myanmar - the 55 m long Shwe Tha Lyaung Buddha and the Kyaik Pun Pagoda, known for its four towering images of Buddha.
Afterwards, we continue to Kyaiktiyo to reach the Golden Rock. Arriving at the Kinpun base camp you join an adventurous ride in a public open truck to reach the Golden Rock. Arriving on the top of the hill, you have plenty of time to not only admire the great view of the mountain landscape but especially the legendary Golden Rock.

Day 8 - Kyaiktiyo - Hpa-An

After breakfast, we drive to Hpa-An. The picturesque town of Hpa-An, the capital city of Kayin state, captivates due to its fascinating landscape and verdurous rice fields. The sightseeing in Hpa-An includes visits to caves and the Kyauk Kalat Pagoda afterwards, a pagoda located on a steeply protruding pinnacle set on a tiny island. The Lumbini Garden houses more than 1.000 Buddha statues arranged symmetrically on a vast field. Right behind the Buddha park rises Mount Zwekabin. To enjoy the beautiful sunset by the eastern bank of Than Lwin River, you will visit the Shwe Yin Myaw Pagoda in the late afternoon.

Day 9 - Hpa-An - Myawaddy

Leave in the morning to drive to Myawaddy – the checkpoint town to cross the border to Thailand.
